Financial Accounting Manager - Falmouth / Hybrid - Up to £65,000
If you’re a motivated technical accountant who feels disillusioned by the limited number of employers in Cornwall that can offer genuine gold-standard career advancement, we’re going to make you smile.
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have formed an exclusive recruitment partnership with a manufacturing business that are very commonly regarded as the county’s most sought after employer. A large, modern, globally trading business that put their employees at the forefront of everything they do. A business with unrivalled employee retention and an average staff tenure that leaves other employers wondering exactly how they do it. A business that is helmed by one of the most talented management teams in the region, both in and out of finance, and in 2021 achieved an impressive 40% growth in sales.
Their finance-number-one (also introduced by Trial Balance Consulting), is a highly knowledgeable, energetic, and hugely approachable individual with big plans for the future of the company’s large accounting function. The structure of the function is changing and they now seek to welcome no less than three new colleagues to their team. Nobody has left the business or the department, they’re all brand new roles that have been created off the back of internal promotions and to facilitate continued growth.
Financial Accounting Manager: This is an interesting and highly technical role with a strong focus on tax compliance, statutory accounting, reporting, GDPR, management of AP and AR controls, and the delivery of high quality financial insight. The successful candidate will be a recognised face and liaise closely with colleagues in multiple areas of the business, and supports other members of the finance team. Key responsibilities to include:
- Preparation of statutory accounts and timely reporting
- Quarterly/annual corporation tax reporting and compliance
- VAT preparation, reporting and compliance
- Play a key role in overseeing customs duty compliance
- GDPR compliance
- Implementation and development of future proof internal controls
- Manage a team of two direct reports
- Assist in all aspects of internal and external audits
For this role we seek an experienced candidate, ideally with comprehensive knowledge of statutory accounting principles, indirect company taxation, UK and international finance reporting standards, and complex financial analysis. Applicants are likely to be working towards or have recently gained a professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), though candidates with relevant vocational experience will be given equal consideration. The successful candidate should possess excellent MS Excel skills and a strong aptitude for grasping modern accounting ERPs (the company currently utilises MS Dynamics AX). Whilst strong technical accounting skills are obviously a given, our client has made strong emphasis on the importance of personable and team-working qualities. The role works within a highly efficient, friendly and motivated team in a business where finance is respected and regularly consulted by colleagues in all areas of the business.
What’s in it for the successful candidate?
- Hybrid working with up to 3 days per week home based if required
- Flexible working
- High quality, modern offices
- A highly regarded brand
- 27 days holiday + public
- Up to 10% employers pension contribution
- A highly supported career with a global business and infinite opportunity to develop in Cornwall or beyond
